THE EVOLUTION PROCESS AND READJUSTMENT MODE OF RESIDENTIAL LAND IN URBAN FRINGES——A Case Study of Beijing |

Abstract Based on the analysis of evolving process of the land use form in urban fringes, the paper aims to quantitatively analyze the characteristic of spatial heterogeneity of residential land using and to establish corresponding patterns to readjust the residential land use form. Analysis method of information entropy was employed in this paper. The result shows that: 1) The system of residential land use in urban fringes is a complicated and macro system with dissipative structure. With the development of society, economy and technology, the spatial form of urban regions is experiencing a process of transformation. 2) At a certain period, the form of residential land use in urban fringes is a function with the variable of time and matrix layer of land use. 3)The information entropy values are of guiding significance to the spatial form heterogeneity of the residential land in urban fringes as they can reflect the form of land use of different regions in a certain period of time. 4) Taking use of the land use constitution data gathered from the sample residential areas in urban fringes of Beijing, this paper conducts analysis on the spatial form heterogeneity of residential land of Beijing and get its conclusion, 5) The natural evolving trend of residential land in urban fringes is a process with ever-increasing entropy under the self-organization mechanism. It should take corresponding readjustment mode to make the land use system achieve low entropy transmuting in accordance with the certain types of residential land. The conclusion is that the land use form of urban fringes shows complexity and diversity due to the dual influence of urban and rural forces. The heterogeneity can be evaluated by information entropy values of different residential land use. The evolving trend of residential land is no doubt an ever-increasing entropy process. Thereby, it will reduce the efficiency of land use. It should take effective measures to prompt the evolvement of residential land use form to evolve ideally, so as to solve contradictions among popularization, resources, environment and ecological crisis and the contradictions between industrial reproduction and land reutilization, prompt urban fringe to be developed rapidly, orderly and harmoniously. Different types of residential land use have different formation process and orientation of evolution, so in accordance with the certain types of residential land use, it should take corresponding readjustment mode to make the land use system achieve low entropy transmuting. Therefore, in determining transformation measure, there must be a certain degree of focus. The tricky and significant problems are solved based on the focuses.
